    Presidential Election

The US Presidential election is November 4, 2008. All Sar-El participants planning to be in Israel during the elections should request and receive an absentee ballot BEFORE they arrive in Israel.

The deadline for an absentee ballot request for registered voters is October 28th, 2008. However, if you wait until the last minute, there may not be enough time for the mail to reach you. To be safe, don't wait until the last minute.

What if you have registered for an absentee ballot but have not yet received it?

If you have not received your ballot for voting by October 3rd, you can complete an online Federal Write in Ballot - print, sign and mail it in. You can find this ballot at: www.overseasvotefoundation.org/overseas/home.htm

*Please note, this ballot should not be sent in unless the person sending it has already requested, but not received the ballot from their state. If there is no registration record it will be discarded by the state registrar.

What is the best way to return my absentee ballot?

1)You can mail it through the Israeli post office, directly to your election official.

    2) FedEx Express offers a discount see: www.overseasvotefoundation.org/overseas/home.htm

    3) The American Services Sections (ACS) at the US Embassy in Tel Aviv, or the US Consulate General in Jerusalem provide a mail service that is free of charge to US citizens. However their Army Post Office system (APO) which is much faster than a diplomatic pouch, can still take several weeks to arrive at a US destination.
